The Strass wastewater treatment plant in the Zillertal valley treats wastewater from the tourist-oriented valleys of Achental, Inntal and Zillertal (AIZ) and has been energy self-sufficient since 2005. During the process changeover from 2019 to 2021 to the auspicious Triple A process, AEROSTRIP® was an important component on the road to success.

The Strass WWTP in the Zillertal valley treats sewage from tourist-oriented valleys of Achental, Inntal and Zillertal (AIZ) and has been operating self-sufficiently in energy since 2005: This year, the DEMON process for treating process water was implemented here for the first time. Thus, the pioneers from Strass succeeded in taking a significant step: The treatment plant has been producing more energy than it consumes.

The “Alte Emscher” sewage treatment plant was built in 1936 in the Hamborn district of Duisburg and was initially only used for the mechanical cleaning of waste water for 100,000 p.e. It was not until 1988 that the plant newly built and for the first time to include a biological stage. Today, the sewage treatment plant has a capacity for 500,000 p.e. and cleans both domestic and industrial wastewater.

Linz is the capital of Austrian federal state “Upper Austria” and third-largest city of Austria. It operates the second largest municipal WWTP of the country. In the year 2001 WWTP Linz-Asten has been equipped with AEROSTRIP® fine bubble diffusers. 20 years later the plant was extended: of course again with AEROSTRIP®.

Verona is the capital of the Italian province of the same name in the northeast of the country and is known as the setting for “Romeo and Juliett”. Its historic center along the Adige River has been a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site for many years.
Less well known is the fact that the city’s sewage treatment plant has been considered one of the most energy-efficient in Italy since 2006.

Avedøre is part of the suburbs in the south-west of Denmark’s capital Copenhagen.
The Avedøre WWTP was built on reclamation ground in 1968 and treats sewage water from a catchment area of approx. 86km² resp. 270,000 P.E.
In 2015 the plant switched from surface aerators to high efficient AEROSTRIP® diffusers.

Melbourne owes its first sewage treatment plant, dating back to 1897, to the gold fever: Located at the Werribee Farm, the sewage was initially drained on paddocks; ~ 1935 the first lagoons started operation. Today one of the most environmentally friendly sewage treatment plants in Australia can be found at this location: “Western Treatment Plant”, which produces class A recycled water.

The municipality of Richterswil is an idyllic location by the south shore of Lake Zurich and counts 13,000 inhabitants. The local waste water plant had to be restructured after 32 years of operation and has been counting on the AEROSTRIP® aeration system since 2017.

The water federation Eifel- Rur runs the biological wastewater treatment plant Heinsberg-Kirchhoven, which is designed for 50,000 EGW. In 2020, in the course of a modification, the aeration system was replaced and liftable frames, occupied by AEROSTRIP® strip diffusers, were installed.

The tanneries of Igualada have a long tradition dating back to their foundation in 1693. Since the beginning they have worked religiously to fulfill the latest demands of the market and have become a world wide reference in the tannary sector. Other than placing importance at their products their aim is also to minimize the environmental effects.

Stadtwerke Bergen GmbH operates a biological wastewater treatment plant with two separate aeration basins and an upstream anaerobic/contact basin at it´s Hermannsburg site (municipality of Südheide). In 2021, the old disc diffusers of the two recirculation basins were replaced, at which a clever variant of the AEROSTRIP® diffusers was chosen.

The Sarneraatal WWTP, built in the municipality of Alpnach, was opened in 1978 and treats wastewater from the entire region around lakes Lungern and Sarnen.
When expanding the plant, the operator relied on new technology: Successfully established by WABAG Wassertechnik AG, the first Swiss sewage treatment plant using the innovative Nereda® process has been running in Alpnach since 2019.
